One digit has changed in the AAIS ZIP Code. The new
code is
60189-8132. Please update your records. Thank you.
AAIS has initiated a countrywide filing of
revised loss cost rating information under its Commercial Crime Program.
The proposed effective date for the new loss costs is Jan. 1, 2009.
In most states changes to the Commercial Crime loss
costs reflect indications based on AAIS statistical data and, for
certain coverages, on crime experience data collected and published by
the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The AAIS Commercial Crime Program allows users to
provide nine types of commercial crime coverage: burglary/robbery,
computer fraud, counterfeit money/money orders/travelers checks,
employee dishonesty, forgery, forgery--personal accounts,
money/securities, premises liability for guests' property, and theft.
For information on affiliating with AAIS for use of
its Commercial Crime Program, contact Rick Maka, director of marketing,
at rickm@AAISonline.com, or by
calling 800/564-AAIS.
James Sullivan, president
and CEO of Co-operative Insurance Companies,
Middlebury, Vt., will resume his position as
chairman of AAIS.
Sullivan replaces Darin Kath, who was elected in
April to succeed Sullivan as chairman. Kath has resigned from the AAIS
board, however, after taking a new position as president of Integrity
Mutual Ins. Co., Appleton, Wis.
Jack Rader, executive vice president and COO of
Farmers Alliance Companies, McPherson, Kan., will continue to be vice
chairman.
AAIS has concluded its
countrywide filing of expanded fire protection
classifications under the Commercial Properties
Program.
The expanded definitions,
announced in February, take effect on Sept. 1, 2008 in all jurisdictions except
Florida, Kansas, Hawaii, Louisiana, and Puerto Rico. (The AAIS
Commercial Properties Program is not available in those last three
states.)
Until recently, Kansas had not approved simplified
fire protection classifications. AAIS is contemplating a first-time
filing of its fire protection classifications, now that the Kansas
Department of Insurance has recently approved fire protection
classification systems that do not utilize the traditional 10-class
system.
AAIS terrorism manual supplements, revised to reflect
the latest changes to the federal terrorism reinsurance program, have
been approved in all jurisdictions. AAIS affiliates for affected lines
received a detailed report last week on approvals and availability of
the supplements.
All AAIS forms, rules, and rating information
revised to comply with the federal terrorism reinsurance program have
now been approved.
AAIS has initiated filings to provide its most
up-to-date Businessowners forms and manual in Louisiana.
The current countrywide forms and endorsements,
as well as state-specific endorsements, have been filed in Louisiana
with a proposed effective date of Oct. 1, 2008. AAIS has also
submitted a filing of supporting rules, rating factors, and loss
cost rating information, with the rating information reflecting use
of a catastrophe model for loss caused by windstorm or hail.
While older versions of AAIS Businessowners
forms have been approved in Louisiana, rules and rating information
were not previously approved for use in that state.
